How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie pop?

Do you remember the old Tootsie pop commercials? It’s got the owl, answering the question of how many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie pop? Of course, you can’t forget about the kid asking the owl that question. Usually you see the owl licking the pop three times, and bites into it. Have you ever wondered what the actual number of licks it takes to get to the center of the Tootsie pop?
All questions as side, Tootsie pop is my favorite chocolate candy. As kid, I had at least one a day. Don’t you just love those sugar rushes. I definitely loved them.
