We all love chocolate and chocolate gift baskets filled with deluxe, gourmet goodies are a especially lovely and thoughtfully present. A chocolate gift basket for Mother’s Day definitely fits the occasion. Please show Mothers your love, and affection this Mother’s Day. Take her out to a Mother’s Day brunch, and give her something special, i.e flowers.
Not everyone likes gourmet chocolate. Some people have dietary necessities such as diabetic, who require low, sugarless, or sugar substitute low fat or dairy-free chocolate. So you can purchase a sugar free chocoalate basket or making your own chocolate gift basket enables you to create a very personalized gift - you can include their favourites.
So how do you make your own chocolate gift basket? It’s suprisingly easy. Just follow the easy to follow steps below.
1) First a basket is required, you can buy one from Michael’s - remember the basket needs to be large and deep enough to hold filler as well as the chocolates, and chocolate gifts.
2) You can use a plain basket, a beautiful wicker or willow basket. You can also decorate the basket. Here are a few decorating tips;
a) Use a spray acrylic paint to paint the basket so that coverage is even. Based on the type of basket, stencilling can look very effective.
b) To find images, you can use napkins, magazines, or anything with images on it. Cut out the images and peel away the plys so all you have left is just the top layer. Using either PVA glue or specialized decoupage glue, glue the images in position. When dry,cover the pictures with several thin layers of PVA or decoupage finish. You use napkins to create whatever theme you wish, i.e holidays, Easter, Thanksgiving, or Mother’s Day. For example, an Easter gift basket for your girl friend, you can use images of Easter eggs, cute little chickens or bright spring colours.
c) You can use the same process for fabrics as well.This is especially effective if you intend to line the basket with the same fabric.
d) You will also need to stiffen silk flowers, bows, and ribbons with fabric stiffner. Allow the items to dry and stiffen, then glue onto the basket with a hot glue gun.
3) Add filler such as fabric, shredded tissue paper or coloured paper to coordinate with both the basket and the wrappings of the chocolates.
4) Organize your chocolate goodies and wrap with cellophane
Gift baskets can be theme based. You can include chocolate themed articles such as chocolate scented candles, soap, and bubble bath. For winter gifts you can add hot chocolate, chocolate sprinkles and marshmallows. Some stores can customize a gift card for your special someone on Mother’s Day.
