Catalpa 101 (official redneck name = Catawba worm) - all you ever wanted to know about catawba (catalpa) worms and how catfish LOVE them. (see 3 lb catfish example at end of movie :)
Got this flathead catfish on the first hook of my 22 hook trotline. I was alternating bream / magic bait on every other hook (BTW: got 4.5 channel catfish previous night on chicken blood / chicken liver magic bait but did not make a video - did add note in blog i.e. figured people has seen enough Channel catfish - but I need more flathead video :)
The Great Blue Heron that roost at my brush pile - got a bass two days ago - then a Crappie in this video. It took almost 30 minute for him/her to get down the crappie (while bass was less than 10 minute
Got a 4lb Channel Catfish to make this version of 'how to fillet a catfish' which shows more detail on the removal of the skin - also this catfish was bled to death (put to sleep) so there is no blood - also the belly meat was saved (not someting I usually do)
One reason bass never get to 8lb around here is the heron and the water turkey (look that one up :)
Just after I made this video - another water turkey for another bass i.e. I've lost 3 bass today (that I've seen :( :(
Not many big shad this year so I've start putting some small ones in freezer (for future catfish :)
I get a dozen nice size golden shiner most afternoon's - when I need them for bait (but not putting these in freezer - didn't have much luck with these - shad work better IMHO)
Tommy catching big ole slab crappie in my brush pile. I was fishing with worms for RedEar and got a couple nice ones - made this video to prove to Mark (BIL) that Arkansas (Lake Conway) has bigger crappie than Missouri :) BTW: besides the redear and crappie there was one small catfish in the 'mess' :)
Run trotline as hobby (exercise) but sometimes I pick up an eater such as this 4 lb (and other) channel catfish (
I've stopped making video of every catfish I get - too much trouble. For example May 3 I got a 7 lb channel - bait was live bream and cut bream. This one was on a bream head - and I think I lost another when running the line in the wind (but can't count those that escape :)
