Here, Nako walked out to a peninsula and is standing on EDGE of the Grand Canyon. She says hello to her neices and then tells them it is a little scary standing so close to the edge.
We traveled to Monument Valley on the Navajo Nation Reservation. When we arrived we were greeted by this amazing performance. Monument Valley is so beautiful!
Here, (in Japanese) Nako tells her nieces (Yurkio and Noriko) about Monument Valley and that the two rocks behind her are refered to as "Mittens" because of their "thumbs" which stick out on either side. Check out the beautiful 360 view.
Nako's grandfather was an engineer who helped design & build Japan's Kurobe Dam (5th largest in the world and is much bigger then Hoover Dam). Here Nako says hello to her mother and invites her to take a look.
While driving down Route 66, Nako spottes these dust devils. There's not much opportunity for dust devils in Japan, so this was of particular interest to Nako... here she points them out to her neices
The trek through this part of the lower Antelope Canyon is only about 300 meters... but it seems much longer. The hike goes through some very narrow passages and other parts are like huge caverns. Here, Nako walks past the camera to show the size & depth of the canyon.
The Kurobe Dam is bigger, but the path across is only for foot traffic, to drive across Hoover Dam is a pretty novel thing. Here Nako talks about Hoover Dam to her mother.
Here, the canopy is blowing up with video & music. Nako & I take a break from gambling to watch the show... Here, she show's off some of here winnings.
