Finally!! Got it running today. Still some issues with the head gasket and the governer spring, but I was pleased with how it turned out. Update 9/15/2008-got the leak fixed and it is now running on the governer- a true hit and miss.

Antique steam engine converted to a 4-cycle gas engine

Old Orr+Sembower steam frame which was missing the cylinder. I am converting it to a 4-cycle gas engine using this epicyclic valve gearing I saw in an old Hiscox text, " Gas, Gasoline + Oil Engines". I have never seen this used to run the exhaust valve on a gas engine.... bore+stroke are 4.25" x 5.0.
