A battered woman,Holly Ann Collins,was betrayed by the American Family Court System. She fled the United States to protect her children. This family was granted asylum in the Netherlands. The are believed to be the first Americans to receive asylum in the European Union.
The Collins children were abused by their father and yet the Hennepin County Famiy Court (Minnesota) awarded him custody. Their mother, Holly Ann Collins, fled with them to protect them from further abuse. They were granted asylum in Europe.
