A day of action on the CSX "River Sub" (still better known as the former Conrail River Line) on a weekend in October, 2006. Check out the transformer load at 2:26 in...
Bay Colony Railroad's "new" locomotive, a GE B39-8 hauls the trash train on a beautiful friday afternoon in September, 2006. The "B-boat" was an interesting addition to this mostly EMD road. Sadly it's no longer gurgling along the Cape Main, having been sent to Bay Colony's sister railroad in Florida following BCLR's exodus from Cape service.
Special MBTA train meets the Cape Cod Railroad "Pumpkin" F10s at West Barnstable in 1997. The MBTA train was taking part in "Railfest" in Hyannis the next day. See more Pumpkin action in our professionally produced video, "Railfan Rambles Volume II", available at www.future-ink.net
I "bagged" both the morning BCLR trash train and an afernoon tourist train while on the Cape for actual work. Note RS-3M #1201 on th scenic train, a re-engined Alco RS-3. Enjoy!
My original 25-year old clip of Killer Willard, the Boxing Kangaroo, was deemed "inappropriate" and locked out - after 60,000 hits and lots of positive comments. See what YOU think! Anyone who doesn't get the irony of Willard hammering his oppressors like gongs is missing the point. Willard Lives!
I caught the Ringling Bros. "Red Unit" Circus Train passing through Worchester a few years back. Check out those GE units...antiques now, but the staple of the Conrail Boston Line in those days!
The late Fred Richardson was surprised to see "his" engine, Edaville #7, steamed up in honor of his 80th birthday in 1997. Mr. Richardson was a long-time superintendent of Edaville and the best friend of the late Nelson Blount, the man who saved the railroad from extinction in the 1950's.
Take a cab ride on a fabulous HO version of the New Haven railroad! Photographed with a wireless mini-cam riding on a flatcar. Music by Mark Knopfler, courtesy of UMG.
You say you're not satisfied, you say you want more? We spent a second say at Millis watching BCLR 1705 switch out aggregate cars at the GAF shingle plant. Later, we caught the engine backing a cut of cars to the CSX interchange in Medfield.
Bay Colony Alco 1052 (now reportedly on the Ohio Central) drops a Covhop at Middleboro, then picks up gons and a boxcar using a gravity-powered runaround move. From Doug Scott, date sometime in the very early 1990s.
Bay Colony may be leaving Cape Cod, but the railroad will remain in Millis, serving the GAF plant for awhile yet. We spent an afternoon there in 2005, watching the 1705 switch the rickety yard.
