Scientists may find reasons to justify the popularity of but the us chocoholics don’t need a reason for liking chocolate. We are just interested in eating it. So, when you finally see low fat sugar free chocolate which fulfills the both objectives of great taste, and possible weightloss, you are over the moon with excitement. But is the product as over hyped as the rest of the low fat stuff or does it really work? Well, unfortunately the answer is yes - the whole thing is over hyped because fat free doesn’t mean low calories, because the chocolate is low fat only

The term low fat is a nutrient content claim regulated by the FDA for use on food labels. To say on the label that a food is “low” in something has a specific regulatory meaning, namely that a product can be eaten frequently without exceeding dietary guidelines for the component in question. Low fat chocolate means that the chocolate contains no more than 3 grams of total fat per serving. Which is of course not true in most cases but, even if it is true the low cal of low fat is compensated by other things like the sugar.

Now if you really want to eat low cal chocolate then it has to be both low fat and sugar free, but, then the taste of chocolate is not the same.
