I was looking for something to make to surprise my niece and nephew. I wanted something I can make easily and quickly, because they were going to be here shortly. They always look forward to what I make for them when they come to stay. I found a chocolate covered strawberries recipe. Most chocolate covered strawberries recipes I have tried out there are complicated and time consuming, but this one is quick and easy. If you don’t believe me, you can try other recipes. This is your choice, but you can use paraffin or shortening. Personally I prefer shortening, but it’s just me.

Ingredients:

  • 16 ounces milk chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • 1 pound fresh strawberries with leaves.

Directions:

  1. Insert toothpicks into the tops of the strawberries.
  2. In a double boiler, melt the chocolate and shortening, stirring occasionally until smooth. Holding them by the toothpicks, dip the strawberries into the chocolate mixture.
  3. Turn the strawberries upside down and insert the toothpick into Styrofoam for the chocolate to cool.

You can also drizzle white chocolate over the for a more beautiful look and feel. Of course, you can also make , but its up to you on how you want to tweak the recipe. This recipe was so easy, I didn’t have to use the oven; I just used the microwave. My niece Nicole, and nephew Nick loved it. My kids are with their Aunt for the weekend. We traded off once a month where my niece and nephew stay with me, and my kids stay with their Aunt, or my sister. You can try it for yourself. Of course if you are still not satisfied, you can watch the clip on .
