The Border War of 2007 was a game whose magnitude had never been reached before, and may not be matched again. For the first time ever, Mizzou faced kansas in football with both teams in the Top 10 (in fact, both were in the Top 5). Missouri emerged victorious 36-28, and found themselves ranked #1 the next day.
Highlights of the Missouri Tigers 2007 season. The Tigers finished 12-2, Big XII North Champions, won the Cotton Bowl and finished #4 in the final AP Poll. This is almost without any doubt the best season ever for the Mizzou football program.
Missouri defeats Nebraska 41-6 to improve to 5-0 on the season. This is the 2nd year in a row Missouri has started 5-0, which has never happened before in Mizzou history. Gary Pinkel is now only the 2nd coach in Mizzou history to ever have 2 different 5-0 seasons, the other being the legendary Dan Devine.
The Missouri Tigers defeat the kansas jayhawks 42-17 on November 25, 2006, in Columbia, MO. This brought an end to a 3-year drought against the hated jayhawks, and dropped them to 6-6 on the year preventing them from going to a bowl game. Mizzou improved to 8-4 and will face Oregon State in the Sun Bowl.
Missouri defeats the Arkansas Razorbacks 38-7 on New Year's Day in the Cotton Bowl. Tony Temple set Cotton Bowl records with 281 rushing yards and 4 rushing TDs.
Missouri demolishes Colorado 55-10 in Boulder, moving up to #6 in the BCS with a 8-1 record. This is the first time Mizzou has been 8-1 since 1969, and the highest they've ever been ranked in the BCS.
Mizzou improves to 5-0 for the 3rd straight season, and in the process ends a 15-game losing streak in Lincoln to the Cornhuskers. The 52-17 victory is the worst loss at home to Mizzou for Nebraska since the 1950's and is one of the most lopsided home losses for Nebraksa in their history.
#6 Missouri improves to 3-0 with an absolute demolishing of the Nevada Wolfpack, 69-17. Three Missouri receivers were over 100 yards on the day as Chase Daniel racked up over 400 yards passing and 4 TDs. Jeremy Maclin was equally brilliant, catching 6 passes for 172 yards and 3 TDs.
The 69 points Missouri scored matches an all-time single-game record set in 1969 against kansas.
A preview of what is to come for All-American Jeremy Maclin. Maclin set an NCAA record for freshman all-purpose yards in 2007 with 2,776. He was the only player in the nation to score rushing, receiving, by kick return and punt return.
Mizzou defeated Texas A&M 40-26 on Senior Day in Columbia, MO. Mizzou is now 9-1 for the first time since 1969, they are now #5 in the BCS and are legitimately in the National Title hunt. Chase Daniel is also considered one of the top 5 favorites for the Heisman Trophy.
