A Russian WW2 veteran convicted and imprisoned for genocide by a court in Riga has won a rights case against Latvia in the European Court of Human Rights. Later on Thursday the court will explain its verdict and announce the amount of compensation to be paid to Vasily Kononov, which may reach up to eight million US dollars.
